Another DSM goes for a WALK!!!

Yup you guessed it. My newly rebuilt 7 block has crankwalked on me at 600 miles. It was making a noise and I couldnt figure out what it was. I took it down to my friend at Mitsubishi and he said it sounded like a rod bearing. Last night I was on my way home and took a left hand turn at a decent speed and the clutch pedal hit the floor. I still need to get underneath it and take it apart to be 100% sure that it walked but I am 95% sure that its done for. So now its time for a 6 Bolt swap it looks like. I am trying to decide which way I want to go as far as doing it though. I would like to just do a stock 6 bolt block for now. I dont know if trying to find a 6 bolt short block or long block in good shape and at a decent price. The only thing is that I dont know about buying an engine from a private party is really the best idea. I was thinking of just buying a long block from one of the JDM motor importing companies for a used long block from a GVR-4. I think that this might be the easiest way to go but what do you guys think?

Re: Another DSM goes for a WALK!!!

It walked already!? Geezus christ, there's got to be something seriously wrong with either the block or the crank then if it did it already.

Re: Another DSM goes for a WALK!!!

As long as its from a 90-92.5 then its a 6 bolt and I would definetly build it... Fooling around with the 7 bolts is just askin for trouble.

Wait a minute... Didn't somebody else build a 7 bolt here too?

Fools... lol

6 bolt FTW!!!

Sorry bout your luck dude. Time to join the 6 bolt club like the rest of us.

Re: Another DSM goes for a WALK!!!

Hmmmm, lets see, who was it that was giving me shit for pushing 6 bolt 1g's?

I was going to say you could go the route of my buddy Eric. He is going to get an MR2 when he finds a decently priced one. Then he is going to order a JDM rear clip and get a whole new drive train for it. You may be able to do this for a Evo I, II, or III clip. IIRC, the Evo 7 bolts didnt have the problems that USDM ones did. I would do a 6 bolt swap if I were you, but they can get expensive, I just wanted to put up another option.
