Re: filmy stuff on headlights

I have seen this before.
Dont know what causes it though.
Either weather conditions or the plastic has a coating that peals due to cheap materials

Have heard some people say they used mothers polish or something like that, and got them to clear up. I havent tried it myself though.

You can buy them on ebay for a reasonable price.
The stealership probly wants $160+ for just one.

Re: filmy stuff on headlights

Use rubbing compound No.7 White and it will look like brand new. it happen to my Infiniti I35 but after I was told that each Headlamp cost was $1,259.00 at the dealer I fixed it with Rubbing compound. Really works.

I have the same problem, but I can't tell if it's on the outside of the headlight cover or inside. Which side was it on for you guys?

Re: filmy stuff on headlights

This usually is only on the outside.

I think they put a coat of varnish on them in the factory to keep scratches down.
I think Some years must of had a bad coating.

Re: filmy stuff on headlights

I know I just seen yesterday that at Wal Mart they had this goofy lens cleaning cloth that said it would fix that. It was in a plastic bag style holder (believe it was shiny on the back) and was about $20. Might wanna check there...

Re: filmy stuff on headlights

Meguiars plastx cleaner and polish, I buy alot of their stuff.

Permatex Headlight Lens Restoration Kit at Autozone.

Here Permatex has a handy guide. And it gives you store listings by state.

I will be doing this maybe next weekend if time/weather permits.
