1962 FERRARI 250 GT Spyder California

Here is a long overdue thread on my 1/24 1962 Ferrari 250 GT California. It was a really quick build for the Qld Model Expo and ended up taking 1st in it's category. Apologies for all the inaccuracies but the Testors kit is a shocker and I rushed to get it finished.
Here are the details of the build:

Base Kit:
• 1/24 Scale Testors Ferrari 250GT Spyder California No: 234

Details:
• Removed Chrome plating and repainted parts using Alclad
• Replaced wheels and tyres with Model Factory Hiro items
• Replaced stock seats with parts box items and covered with MFH leather
• Machined all the gauges
• Machined gearbox lever
• Machined indicator lever
• Machined fire extinguisher
• Machined intake trumpets
• Machined all engine pulleys
• Machined alternator
• Machined new headlights
• Machined exhaust tips

I hope you all like it?

Re: 1962 FERRARI 250 GT Spyder California

That's a die cast right? Your attention to detail and machining skills are incredible. That is one of the smootest paint jobs i've seen in a while, and it looks like you can start that motor. The leather interior looks awsome adds to the quality of this car. I especially like the boot around the shifter. Fantastic work!

Re: 1962 FERRARI 250 GT Spyder California

Looks good. I wish there was a more accurate kit. The fenders aren't sculpted right. They look too long, thin, and don't have the very slight crease on top (much like the 612 Scaglietti, but even slighter). The 1:1 scale car has beautiful, voluptuous fenders.

At last!

That was pretty darn good for a quickie!

Your's doesn't look much different to the one I was drooling over 2 weeks ago ;-)

Wow, that's nice. I like all the machined details you made. It's such a beautiful car to begin as is your model.

Great job, as ever: little things I'll see better are the steering wheel (oversized) and tailight surround, missed.Rims are superb.

Nice model for a hurry-up build. Nice for any kind of build. How's the MFH leather to work with?

Beautifull paint and superb interior - I really must give the MFH adhesive leather a try - your result is very impressive!
