1997 gmc sonoma---speedometer

MY speedometer just stopped working,i looked up and under the dash.I see there is not a cable anymore,like the the old cars.What could it be,and can i do it myself........I have about 79000 miles on it,2.2 ---4 cylinder with automatic transmission....even the mileage ometer is not working.......Please HELP......Rick,,,,,,,email me at [email protected]

Welcome to AF! Does the tranny shift properly? Any SES light? Get a scanner on there and see if you can see a mileage reading while driving it. IF this is the case, it could be wiring, the cluster itself may be bad.

YES my tranny shifts properly,and i have all my dash lights..I do not own a scanner,i would not know how to use it,Someone told me to go to AUTOzone and see if they could help me......
