1998 ,water pump question =

recently did some more preventive maint. mechanic installed bosch wires and a new water pump from auto zone. question = i can grab hold of the water pump housing with two hands and feel a little play in it. i barely see a little wobble with the motor running. no noise observed. mechanic says it ain,t no problem. his lumina is the same.

There should not be any play in a new water pump.

this mechanic is a real friendly guy and does mobile work for a fair price and has a lumina and was a chevy dealer tech. this is the same guy that did the intake manifold job. a few days later i noticed the "o" ring leaking . he could not get it out,but somehow the leak was fixed. ?? this poor lumina is starting to look like a time bomb.
