2006/07 Impala

I am currently looking for a new car. I have a 2001 Impala now.
I have had issues with the tranny and now it seems everything is going wrong with it.
Before I jump into another car I would like to know thoughts about 2006/07 Impalas.
How is the 3.5L? Anyone had tranny problems? Or any other kind of problem??

Re: 2006/07 Impala

My grandpa has an '06 Impala LT with the 3.5 211hp engine. I drive it a lot. The engine has excellent power and torque. As for the transmission, it works well too. The gears are well spaced for the engine's power and it shifts very smoothly and precisely. If you floor it for a stop, which I did, you can hit 60mph in 1st gear at about 6100-6200rpm. Also, gas mileage is excellent. Even with a bit of lead foot and city driving mixed into a road trip, cruising at 72mph for an hour and a half returned 29mpg.

Re: 2006/07 Impala

I myself drive a 2000 Impala with the 3.4. I'm surprised that you have transmission problems. My Impala with about 70K on it shifts quietly and precisly. GM is known for excellent transmissions. Before we got rid of it, our '91 Buick Park Avenue (almost 17 years old) had the original tranny in and we never had a problem with it.
