2006 Silverado Radio Replacement

Looking to replace the stock AM/FM radio with a stock cd player found on ebay. How big of a job is this? How is the dash panel removed and then is it mostly a remove the old radio and plug in the new?

So long as the CD player you're looking at is for 2003 models and up, it should just be a straight forward remove the old and plug in the new. The dash bezel just pops out... grab it and pull towards you. Keep in mind that you're removing the entire dash trim piece for the driver compartment. You'll also need to engage your parking brake and throw the shift lever all the way down so the dash piece fits over it. Once you've done that, there's 2 screws and 2 squeeze clips holding the radio in. Once you get the radio out of the slot, just unplug the wiring harness and plug it into the new radio.

Pretty simple process, really.

Thanks for the information, I pulled mine apart to check the wiring connections for my radio. I have a single harness with a 12 pin connector. Most of the CD players I've seen on ebay have the 12 pin connector and an additional 6 pin connector, do you know what the 6 pin connector is used for?

I'm Pretty Sure the 6 pin connector could be for the factory XM tuner or maybe an optional cd changer..just a thought

It is for an auxillary devise such as a tape deck, cd changer, or can be converted to accept an Ipod ect.
