Another problem
I was taking my exhaust manifold off and i noticed a stud was real loose. So after i took it out i realized the stud was put in backwords and the head got striped out from the person before me. Am i gonna run into leaks and stuff once i get the car started again? because i put the manifold back on and thats when i realized it was actually stripped out. I put a copper gasket on for a tighter seal but its missing the top left hand stud. I would start the car to see myself but i have other things out that i cant start the car without. Basically my question is will i be ok without that one stud or should i put it in with some lock tight or something? hah

Quote:
It all depends which stud it is... Personally I wouldn't wanna run without any of them. If the head is stripped out then you will need to heila(sp?) coil it to fix it.

Re: Another problem
You shouldn't get any leaks right away, but over time it may become a problem. I would drill the hole out VERY CAREFULLY (make sure not to go farther than you need to so you don't put an actual hole in the head), and then tap it and run in a heli-coil like Brian said, just make sure you get the right size for the bolt.

Re: Another problem
alright thanks.. I think i might take it somewhere to get it done because i dont want to take the chance of completely ruining it. What kinda places would do that?

Re: Another problem
Actually i was looking at the heli coil thread repair kits. Does enyone kno exactly which kit or which thread size one i would need? like even if you have a link to the exact one i would need that would be great because this thing is realy bugging me.
Thanks

Re: Another problem
Just take the stud into an autoparts store and they should be able to find the correct one for you.
