Indash DVD

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has put an indash 7" slide out monitor in the GA in here yet. I will be receiving mine Friday and installing it but was just wondering if anyone else has one...

Just curious...

Take it easy all!!

Re: Indash DVD

I havent but I have looked into it.

The receiver will need to stick out pretty far for the screen to clear your ETC & Hazzard buttons(especially that center nub that sticksout).

Oh YA! Thats another thing about these newr flip screen dvd's, thiers a wire that hooks up that keeps you from viewing movies while driving
You just leave that out and it should work. Pretty sure it just hooks to the P/N switch or into the DTC port

Not alot of room in there either.... Good Luck!

Re: Indash DVD

ive seen it in a civic but never a GA. As far as the part about not being able to watch it when you drive is because its the law. If you take it to a professional they have to hook it up like that but if you do it yourself you can wire it up so it works whenever you want.

Re: Indash DVD

boug0752, which head unit did you get?

Gir, Not all GAs have that cuby hole.
Just the ones without the sunroof, that is where the buttons for it are.

Plus you would have to look way up to see the screen,
that could be dangerous

See check out this Crutchfield link.
Towards the bottom it says;
Quote:
Installation Details for your 1999 Grand Am
» Extension kit -- when installed, the radio will protrude from the dash by 1".
That was what I was talking about.

That is the DVD player I've been watching for but they've been out of stock for a couple months

Hey you guys, sorry for the late reply. I just got the unit in and it works great. No contact with the hazard of the ets button which I was very grateful for. I will try to get some pics tonight before my hockey game and put those up a little later.
By the way, I got the Dual XDVD8181 and wired it myself. Now the girlfriend can watch DVDs while I'm driving...as she says..to close to the car in front of me!!

Re: Indash DVD

Heres the pics I was talking about in the previous post. The one you can see the clearance for the screen.
