well dude doin that swap is fun but it will test u at times. i did a B16A swap0 into my friends 89 CRX si. the swap isnt hard its all jus the little stuff that is a pain. u have to make a custom wiring harnes for vtec to work and u cant forget to bash the frame in so the altenater pully will fit. i would suggest a place racing mount kit. ask me if u need more info.

i was under the impression that a b16a1 would fit right in our cars, seeing as how they come out in them in japan. I just dont see the honda plant foreman saying, "Fujiitsui, make sure you pound the frame in so the alternator pulley will fit!"

If it came stock, you would think that it would just bolt right in.

You need to make a dent for the pulley because of the way the aftermarket mount kits place the motor. You also need to bash down the lip of the rear crossmember so the rear motor mount bracket does not rest on it and cause uneccesary vibration. Otherwise the motors fit in just like stock with the aid of a mount kit.

The civics/crxs that came stock with the b16a have different motor mounts. They are located slightly different than USDM civics/crxs. That is why we have to use a mount kit to swap a b series motor into our cars. Or some people cut out the old mounts and weld in new ones. I prefer the motor mount kit...makes the swap a lot easier. The hood may rub. I luckily have no problems with my hood rubbing. It is possible to adjust the height of the hood as well.

:bandit: i would suggest u get an hcp b-series mount kit, it sits the engine back more towards the fire wall so that the axles align better and plus it gives u more space for turbo. it also has four mounts instead of three. also order the harness from hasport, its $300. but its wourth it in the long run. holla back.

maybe no one knows this, but i know that del sol VTEC has a b16a3 in it but del sol also comes out with d16z6. so the del sol with the b16 has different motor mounts than the si right? it has to because d16z6 will bolt right in but b16 will not?

People do know that the del sol came with both variations of motors, I'm almost positive the b16 version is setup with different mounting system than the sohc versions, but believe everyone when they tell you that the b16 will not just drop in.

The newer civics have different mounting points than the 4g/2g civic/crx. The d series motors in the 5g up civics mount the same as in our cars except on the transmission side they are quite different. The b series motors can be bolted into the 5g/6g civics using stock motor mounts from a combination of different cars ie integra, civic si, etc. The difference in mounting is due to the hydraulic transmission. This is why when you swap a d16z6 most people use a 4g cable transmission. It is difficult to fabricate a new mount for the hydraulic transmission. The b16a3 del sol has the same mounting points welded to the chassis as the d16z6 del sol but it uses different rubber insert mounts.
