Help ME

ok my distributor on my crx DX 1.5l died on me the other day, so i took the dizzy off my friends SI 1.6l and installed it, problem is the si dizzy has wiring for a TDC/Crank/CYL sensors, where as my DX only had the TDC/Crank sensor, so i tied off the other two wires and re wired the SI dizzy to fit my DX.

after lining up the rotor to the old location, and installing everything, i got the car to start up, but the rpm would rise and fall from 1250-1500rpm constantly. i cut it off, and tried again, but the car will not start now, it'll crank tho, and if i crank it enough, eventually the check engine light comes on reading 8, which is TDC/Crank sensor.

So im at a loss here, i checked my vacuum lines, and im sure the timing is not far enough off to not start as i put the rotor in the same way i took it out. So if anyone has an idea lemme hear it.

Also, what is the best D series engine(HP,TQ) that i can bolt upto my DX tranny?

Thanks Guys.

either d16y8 or d16z6 (the SOHC Vtec's) or a ZC. Both those will bolt up to the tranny

D16z6's are from the 92-95 civics, and the y8 is from 96-00 civics. I got a D16Y8 at the local junkyard for $900. You could find one for alot cheaper than that, but this one had less than 8000 miles on it, so I spent the extra $$.

The specs are almost the same as the ZC.
They have 10 hp less than the DOHC ZC, and only 2ft/lbs less on torque.

Aerogear Hy-bryd sides and the wings west rear.

you car will never run right unless you get a SI ecu. you can not mix and match dizzy & ecu. get yourself a Si ecu or a Dx dizzy and your problem is solved.

ask slammed89Si...i just helped him with this problem a month or so back

EDIT: it's slammed89civic....sorry audi

i almost forgot...you can bolt a ZC, d16a6, d16z6, or d16y8 to it. however, the DX tranny was geared for ecno daily driving. the Si tranny was geared for performance. i'm not into the DX tranny. IMO, it is worth every penny to pick up a Si tranny...even for that d15 you got going on.

slap MPFI, ECU (needed for dizzy and MPFI), and Si tranny...you might as well start calling it a Si....seriously. then when the d15 goes you're ready to pull it and drop in a d16z6 or d16y8.

Sup man, it has definatley been a while since you have come on here.

I am thinking of doing MPFI also, but no time, so I will just stick with the DX tranny, and Dual Point on the SOHC ZC

What died on your dizzy?

Say, if the ignitor fried, you can swap the ignitor from the Si dizzy, into your dizzy.

not to mention but you have a Auto also, so you cant put in a manual ecu in to your car, or else it wont work with an auto tranny

whatever you end up doing...let us know! you can e-mail [email protected] (jon) and he will most likely have a dizzy for you (for time being) and cheaper than a junkyard.
