Static vs Dynamic

Most don't use/hear much about static weight training, but I read an article about it awhile ago. The results were amazing and while I can't remember them I won't mention them because I don't want to perceive false information. But, what are your opinions on it? Pros and cons of each.

Re: Static vs Dynamic

Sure you can build muscle through static or isometric exercises but the problem with them is you build strength at a certain point in your range. So the muscles might grow but you wont gain functional strength.

Re: Static vs Dynamic

if your goal is just muscle building, then sure try it, it seems to give good gains. on the other hand, if your goal is strength, then you'd better train the range of motion you want to use. when you train the strength gains only happen at about 15 degrees more than the range of motion you're training. so if you only work 45 degrees, the strength gain will be for about 75 degrees. meaning you won't get much of a range of motion if you do static training, but you might build a bunch of muscle.

so depending on your goal it could be useful, or it could be a complete waste of time.
