fog lights

I recently purchased a 99 explorer. I notice the fog lights wernt working so I crawled under to take a look and saw one bulb was broke and when I went to the other side to inspect. I saw that the harness was just hanging there and the part the bulb plugs into was missing. Went to the dealer to try and get one. heres the prob. They tell me I have to purshase the whole fog light kit. The local parts store dont carry the kind i need. Junk yards dont sell them. Where can I get this $10-$15 part without having to buy the whole damn kit.

Re: fog lights

I'm surprised that your local salvage yards won't sell you the socket/harness.

Maybe you can find one that allows you to pull it yourself.

If you get a new harness though, make sure to leave a foot or so of wire pigtail on it. Since yours was ripped off, there is a good chance the copper wire is corroded a few inches up, and to get a good connection, you'll need to cut off 3 inches or more of what's still there.

Re: fog lights

maybe Iam not explaining this right... The fog light harness is fine.. the part that was ripped off is the "SOCKET" that would be the device the harness would plug into and the the light bulb would be plugged into the socket. I told the wife if ford wants me to buy the whole kit (which I dont need) then I would go to a different dealer and test drive one and once around the corner I would take the part off myself. Would only take 10 seconds to do... I really would'nt do that but this is really pissing me off
