96 3.8L IMRC question

Does anyone know what the resistance values should be on these IMRC's. I put a meter on all combinations of the three pins, used a hand vacuum pump to operate the IMRC's and the values on the ohm meter did nothing, not on either IMRC. I did a search on here for IMRC and resistance and got nothing. Does anyone have a known good IMRC out of the car that they can do resistance measurements and post them here? That would be fantastic.

I have a '96 and have probed the IMRC's for voltage readings for comparison to an aftermarket IMRC I purchased. Here is the link:

What kind of problems are you having? BTW, to measure the readings, I was "back probing" into the IMRC electrical connector, with the ignition switch in run.

Anyway, the engine stumbles when you snap the throttle at an idle. I thought I'd do some other testing while I wait for the donor van to become available again. I figured that beings there are electrical connections on the IMRC's, I figured V+, gnd, and signal out, I would test them out to see what they are reading. I know that one of the connections is breaking loose from the rest of the valve. Someone put too much stress on it. I thought it might not be reading properly and when it showed to make no difference whether or not the valve was open or closed. So, I tested the other valve and got the same result. I'll try with power applied. Perhaps it's not a resistance measurement at all. Maybe it's an optical trigger instead.

Well, it must be an optical type device. I hooked the connectors backup and turn on the ignition. The one that is messed up a little bit seemed to act up depending on how pressure was applied to the connector. The other seemed to work rock solid. I went back to the questionable IMRC probing it a little differently and it also worked consistantly. Maybe back to square one and then again maybe not.

BTW, here are the reading as I think they should be.

The signal wire on the radiator side of the engine is Tan and the signal wire on the firewall side is orange. Red is 12Vdc and black naturally ground.

IMRC is activated with vacuum closing the IMRC flaps the voltage is 6.8Vdc
IMRC de-activated (engine rpms above 2900) flaps closed voltage is 1.0Vdc

Incidentally, if the connector is unplugged, the PCM signal wire (orange and tan) voltage floats to 5Vdc probably indicating to the PCM that the valve is in the activated or normal operating position.

Who knows, this might be helpful to someone else down the road.
