Automatic Climate Control
Hi,
My 1999 Mountaineer has the manual climate controls. Can I just purchase and plug in an automatic control module or is it more complicated than that. Also the same question question for the computer that goes in the console underneath the climate controls. Thanks. Bill |

Re: Automatic Climate Control
Welcome to the forum!
Adding automatic climate controls is not as simple as just plugging in the automatic control module. The blower motor controller with the automatic unit is a pulse-width modulated controller, the servos for the doors in the HVAC system are not necessarily identical, etc. I'm not sure on the fuel/bulb/system monitor computer in the center console. I suspect you'd need to also add the distance to empty (DTE) module as well as a few other modules, but I haven't looked over the wiring diagrams to see what all it would take. If you really want to tackle these projects, I'd suggest you get the factory service manuals and wiring diagrams to determine what all you'd need. -Rod |

Re: Automatic Climate Control
Rod,
Thanks alot for the quick reply. Whether I try this project or not I am interested in getting the factory service manuals. Where is the best place to get them? Bill |

I don't know about the BEST place to get them, but many have been pleased with the options provided at http://www.fordcds.com/.
