Third Row Seats

I posted this over in the GMC Yukon board, but so far no one has posted a reply:

Has anyone here had any experience installed an OEM or aftermarket third row seat in a 97 or similar Tahoe?

Re: Third Row Seats

I have had an 01 Tahoe (without 3rd Row) and an 03 Yukon (with 3rd Row). I'm sure the construction of the third row would be similar to the previous generation models. Its clear on my Yukon that the necessary mounts to attach the seats are installed at the factory. On the Tahoe, the rear cargo area was completely flat and without these necessary mounts. Therefore, based on my experience, it would be very difficult to install the third row seats on a vehicle that didn't originally come with them. I would expect that it would involve cutting and welding to the cargo floor to properly mount the seat safely.

Cool Re: Third Row Seats

Steel Horse makes a decent price and quality third row seat with mounts. Got mine from Summit Racing.com. My 96 Hoe has Barn Doors and I mounted the seat facing rear. Two hour job, drill four holes in floor.
