HOWDY Folks... NEW GUY IS HERE!

I sold my 1993 J30 in order to purchase a mint condition, original owner, never been hit, every service record from Infiniti 1991 Q45 with 90,000 original miles. I have taken steps to outfit my new badboy with 18 rims and tires and she looks amazing. Digital pics coming soon.

Now down to business. I know this is the G20 board, but I assume this is ok for all Infiniti posters because of the sheer volume of posters.

I do notice my power steering is excessively noisy and somewhat ineffective at low speeds, even before the tire/rim swap. Is this common in Q45's? Relplace pump?

Also I have noticed an annoying "whirring" sound from the rear of the car that I can only assume is the fuel pump. Is this common as well? Does it need to be replaced? How much dough am I looking at?

Finally I intend to to replace the crappy Bose system with a a new mp3 set up and was hoping for recommendations. Also this car has no factory remote entry and what is involved in upgrading to a newer factory system or is it better to go aftermarket.

Thanks so much and I look forward to being part of the community.

You are welcome to hang out here, but I am going to say up front that I don't know a darned thing about Q45s, except that they are beautiful, reliable, and expensive.

I can however tell you about MP3 headunits, a bit, though my G20 came stock with a Clarion system and not Bose. From what I have heard almost nothing is compatible with Bose systems, so you may need to rip the wiring. I personally upgraded to a Kenwood MP7019 and am extremely happy with it. It has not skipped because of jostling or bumping, not once. I can fit all my music onto 4 cds. I paid $240, and would have been happy paying twice as much.

As for the alarm system, my G20 came with a stock system, but many people here have gone aftermarket. The most appealing system that I have heard of is a pager system, which actually pages you if the car is tampered with. Very nice.

My boyfriend is thinking about a J30, so I am curious as to your opinions and experiences with the car. There is a near-mint 1994 with 81k locally, for $7995. Strong buy?
