Break Pad Replacement Help Needed
Well, its been many years since I did any car work. I used to replace break pads myself and now find myself needing to do it on my daughters Alero. I looked at the calipers and they look like others I had done years ago. I am asking for advise on how to do it to refresh my memory. I do not have a manual. Can I just remove one caliper bolt leaving the other one in loose/in place? which one gets removed-top or bottom. Any guidance would be appreciated. THANKS

Re: Break Pad Replacement Help Needed
two bolts hold on the caliper both need removed to get the pads out.
You'll need a C clamp to partially compress the caliper piston BEFORE you can pull it off. Then when you fully compress the caliper piston you should loosen the bleeder valve to releave the pressure. If not You'll push old crapy fluid backwards through the system and it can faul up your ABS modulator. Those bolts should be torqed to 23 FT Lbs. Hope that helps.
