Anyone Dynamatted their doors??

I'm wondering how much reduction in road noise this stuff provides and whether or not it is worth the trouble. I'm trying to get the best possible sound from my aftermarket stereo system and have heard this stuff makes a big difference, but I'd like first hand accounts.

I've never done it, but it will definitely improve you stereo sound. Not sure about how much road noise will be reduced, probably a bit though.

I know a guy that put it in his Camaro and it made a huuuuuge difference with road noise.

i dynamatted my doors, floor, and ceiling of my truck and it made a hige difference. the doors will make alot of difference in road noise and improve sound quality of the speakers. make sure for the doors that you get the xtreme dynamat or whatever brand you use just get the foil backed type. makes the biggest difference and is the thinest they make. they make a nock off brand on ebay called e-dead and the only difference i could tell was that it took more heat to get it to stick really good. i have had no problems with mine though. i hope this helps.

OK this stuff is, in my opinion, a pain in the ass to install. I did my passenger door today as best I could. I had to cut the plastic sheet liner... how important is that thing anyway?

What do I do about the huge hole in the middle of the door, where the window motor is?

I still have quite a bit more of the stuff to install, but given the amount of time this is taking, I'm just not sure how much more I want to do...

Please tell me which Dynamat product you used. I was just pricing the stuff on eBay.
I see Dynamat Original needs a heat gun and Dynamat Extreme does not.

to make them stick good they all need a heat gun. dynamat extreme is alot better and weighs less. there is a off brand called edead on ebay that i used and works just as good as dynamat same thickness and all just not the name.

I'm using the Dynamat Xtreme. I went up to Circuit City to buy the door kit which has 12 sq. ft. of the stuff. They had the price marked at $99. So I go to check out, hand them my credit card and didn't pay much attention to the whole transaction. When I got home, I looked at my receipt and saw they only charged me $56 for whatever reason. So I went back the next day and bought another door kit.

No heat gun required for this stuff, just a real pain in the ass to install with all the wires and other gizmos Chevy stuffed in the doors. Does indeed make a difference, though. I'm waiting for some new 4x6 plates to come in that I just ordered for the back doors and I figure I'll Dynamat the back doors while I have the panels off.

so 12sq feet is enough for each door????

12' square is 3' x 4'

Given there are some places you can't put the dynamat to make sure it doesn't interfere with window/door lock stuff; yes, it is enough for 1 door.

Just for an update:

Last weekend I removed my rear door panels (extended cab) and dynamatted those.... I have to say that it was QUITE a bit easier than the front doors. While I was at it, I replaced the factory 4x6's with Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates (with the separate woofer and tweeter) and those sonsabitches sound AWESOME back there. After sitting in the back seat listening to those, I'm seriously considering swapping my component system up front with Infinity Perfects. Anyway, It was a fun project that was well worth the time and effort.
