1999 Ram 1500 Reverse lights dont work
Hey I've got a 1999 Ram 1500 I purchased from a friend. As the annual state inspection is approaching, I noticed neither back-up light works. I hoped it was 2 burned out bulbs. Not so lucky. I tried to find the fuse, and no fuse under the hood seems to be for reverse lights. The only one that was close was Fog Lamp/DRL (hopefully rl standing for reverse lamp), anyway, that fuse is fine. the shift indicator for the trans does go into R when I put the auto trans in reverse. Any ideas on where I could find this fuse and how I could further diagnose the problem? Any help is appreciated!

The fuse is not under the hood but it's under the dash on the left hand side.

DRL stands for Daytime Running Lamps.

Re: 1999 Ram 1500 Reverse lights dont work
there is a switch on the drivers side of the trans. To remove it get 1" deep socket. There will be a metal seal that will probably be stuck to the trans pull it off and install a new one. Just be ready for some ATF to come out when you pull the old switch out.
