1995 Century

Hi there! I'm a complet newcomer in this forum, and also in the Buick World. I'ma DIY guy, and just bought a 1995 Buik Century V6, 3.1 engine, with 81K mles from my father. The car is in uite good shape, but, since here the average mechanic is not a really gooood one, I'd like to know what to be aware of in this car, with this milleage. My old man made kind of a general maintenance, but, even so, I'd like to have this info from you. I read already a few things on electric stuff and intake manifold gaskets getting done.... anything else?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to AF!!

The maintenance on this car is just like all others. Keep it basic. Change the filters at regular intervals, change the Oil on a regular basis and keep the brakes in good shape and you should be good to go. One thing however, don't flush the transmission. Just change the fluid and filter. If you flush the tranny you will end up with transmission failure in a relatively short amount of time.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind. The thing is, I live in Venezuela, anda here is really hard to find a decent mechanich, that is not a shade tree guy... nothing against shade tree mech's, (I am one, jajaja!) but, since here's a bit of tech involved..... the average mech doesn't have it.

My dad has recentrly changed plugs, plug cables, cleaned injectors, had some work done around the cooling system and brakes... there some paint details, but nothing to dye for....

Thanks for your help!
