6th gear

searched forums and couldn't find any info..
2000 civic si
i'm thinking of putting in a 6th gear (take the high-way to the new job, and revs too high after 60mph) the local tranny shop had no answers (i don't trust them much anyway) anyway, my question is...is there enough room inside the tranny to just add the 6th gear, or would i have to buy a separate tranny, and if so, what one would fit that has enough room for the 6th gear.

Re: 6th gear

There's not enough room for an extra gear, and there's aren't any available, and least not that I'm aware of. And no other 6-speed tranny will directly bolt up to the engine either. You could try buying a '94-'00 Integra LS, RS, or GS tranny (all 3 share the same engine and tranny). The gearing in that is a lot longer than your current one. But obviously you'll lose acceleration
