Exclamation New computer? help please

i'm at my wits end with this car. it be a 92 cavalier. A while back it just died every now and then the problem got worse as time went by. What it is doing now is when i drive it, i guess you would say when it gets hot on the highway i would push on the gas peddle and nothing.. no acceleration.. no reving just nothing. when driving it home i pushed on the gas peddle several times finally it would give me some gas for a minute then cut out again. Then of course if i was to stop at a stop sign it dies. Then i restart it and it dies again. last time i drove it the day after it got out of the shop (they replaced 2 sensors one being the throttle i believe) i got stranded in the middle of this god forsaken island. The car kept dieing ( same acceleration problems on the highway) then finally it refused to start. I sat there for about an hour while i waited for a friend to come get me. I started the car and it started up. Now it is back in the shop they are telling me that i need a new computer for the car. I told the shop to check the O2 sensor and the fuel filter and i don't know if they did. If anyone has any idea could ya please help. I'm sure i haven't the kind of cash to pay for a new computer.

Thank you in advance
Robyn

I believe the gas filter is at fault. Replace asap. If still stalling, it could be the fuel pump. Replace only the O2 sensors when you get the check engine. Good luck

is that the stock exhaust system on the car or has it been replaced before. a loss of power when the car is running warm can sometimes be a plugged converter. and anyone who has ever had problems with the converters know the easiest simple solution. cut it off.

Re: New computer? help please

check the exhaust system for age. if your converter is plugged it will act the same way as a bad fuel filter or malfuctioning fule pump
