Chevy Cobalt 2SS vs Chevy Cobalt 1SS vs Pontiac G6 GTP

Done a lot of research on these three cars, but now I want to hear from some actually people and not just reviews.

I'm looking for something with more power then my current car, a 2005 Chevy Cavalier LS, but I want something that I can get with all the options/accessories, and possibly a car that can be made faster down the road. I'm also looking for something that gets at least 27mpg too.

So out of those, which would probably be the best? Budget is around $25,000 and only sticking with GM cars.

Re: Chevy Cobalt 2SS vs Chevy Cobalt 1SS vs Pontiac G6 GTP

what is 2ss and 1ss? Its SS and SS Supercharged. THe SS supercharged is definitely the fastest of the 3. City driving i usually get around 20-25MPG depending on how i drive. HIghway is usually around 30-35 MPG. THe Supercharged SS has lots of toys. Radio controls on the steering wheel, the information display thingy. And yes it can be made pretty fast for pretty cheap.

Re: Chevy Cobalt 2SS vs Chevy Cobalt 1SS vs Pontiac G6 GTP

yeah the 2SS is the supercharged version, and the 1SS is the one with the 2.4L engine (thats the labeling it gives on the print out from the Chevy website). Not looking so much at going the fastest, but it does help. Thanks for the info, definitely helps out.

I know its 205hp for the SS SC, 179hp for the SS, and 252hp for the G6, but are the ratings I'm finding for whp? I've also known GM to under-rate the hp's, anyone know where I can find actual dyno values?

I know for my Cavalier, GM says 145hp, and when it was put on the dyno it was 156whp, with only increasing the fuel consumption slightly.

As much as I really hate bringing up old topics I cant help but comment after reading the above.

Im going to have to call BS on this without a dyno sheet. I just dynoed my eco last week and even with all my piddly ass bolt on crap Im only running 127 to the ground.

clicky clicky

It's cool. I'd be calling BS too. I cannot for the love of g0d find the dyno sheet, or any of my papers for that matter because my garage just got cleaned out, so for now it will have to be word of mouth. I know word of mouth don't mean squat to a lot of people, but thats what I got for now. More was actually done then just messing with the fuel, my car spent 3 days with two of my friends, one is a racer (has a 1200hp 1989 Camaro) and the other is an engineer that used to work for Toyota. I personally was not there, so I don't actually know, and only thing I saw was a print out that had 157hp and 149tq. To be honest, whether it be right or wrong, all I know is that I have way more power then what I did have, but it's still not enough.

Now, that out of the way, does anyone have any insight on the 2008 Chevy's?

I'm really liking the Solstice GXP, but I'd rather get another Chevy. Is there any truth to the rumors about the Cobalt getting the same motor? Heck is any other Chevy going to get the 2.0L Turbo EcoTech? Got to see the Saturn Sky Redline on the highway the other day and all I could say was wow.

Your 2SS is going to be the easiest of the three to modify afterwards. Plus the fact that it is already the fastest stock- and admit it- you mentioned boosting speed later in the game.
I'd go 2SS, although I never really paused to get a good look at G6s.
at 25K, why are you looking around these cars? I got my Cobalt for 11K certified used from a dealer.

All of this is speculation. Everyone on CSS.net claimed this and even produced "evidence" showing that it will be turbo. The fact is that it won't be turbo for 2008, and unlikely for 2009.

(yes I own a WRX but I used to own a cobalt and have a lot of knowledge into them)
