web cam assistance

I just bought a new computer and opted to get a web cam. Only problem is I have no clue how to use it. I have other friends who also have web cams. The only instant messaging program that I use at the moment is Myspace Instant messenger. Do web cams require the use of Instant Messengers? if so, which ones are compatible? Also, how do I go about setting up a conversation? I am clueless!!

Re: web cam assistance

It's not required to use IM programs but can be used for them. In MSN there is a tab or option to use a web cam. I think the setup is pretty much straigt forward, plug it in, install the drivers, and so forth.

Re: web cam assistance

It is a LOT easier to just use an IM program like Windows Live Messenger.

Re: web cam assistance

I know a few people with MSN so I'll download that. Eclipse, could you post a link to Windows messenger?

Re: web cam assistance

Msn messenger is used through windows messenger, which is already on your system, otherwise you can use windows live messenger, same thing and I tyhink its easier to use. I think this is the link, http://messenger.msn.com/ but I'm not sure because we can't use messenger at school.
