Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

Ive sent out invitations to men whom we consider to have qualities that distinguish them above thier fellow car enthusiests.
Mostly we sought men with extensive knowledge and experience in street racing, men who have been laying it down on the blacktop and hard! Men who define what it is to be a car-guy.
We've also selected members based on participation, enthusiasm, knowledge of mechanics, car-care, ect.
If you are not on this list then dont get all girly and upset and sentimental. More then likely its your own damn fault. If your not here its maybe cause you dont stand out of the crowd, maybe you havent been here in a while and we forgot you existed, maybe we where just too tired and forgot you or maybe your last post of an actual street race was back in the day of Burntrice.
Whatever the case is come by and participate in our discussion, we are and open forum and we love participation.
If you participate enough, offer enough of your knowledge and your experience and help us write the Carlaws then soon you too will get and invite and join The Men Of The Automotive Order.

Here is the list:
Stig
Igovert500
2000LS1Z28
Gotian
Slowprocess
Mr. Luos
CassiesMan
CivRacer95
209 SRT
youngvr4
-Jayson-
Polygon
Elchicoloco86
Chiquae07
SL3000gt
Musashi3000GT
Hypsi87

The above are the 17 official chair members. (unless I forgot someone)
Vip09 and BullDog71ss where also invited but have yet to respond, we will keep them on as standby till they accept.

And yes, I have had people ask me to please not include them so I rather await thier response.

Thats it, now lets get to writing some Carlaws!

I believe 2000LS1Z28 had brought up some topics on the other thread.

Also, no excuses. You lose and it's your own damn fault. Don't hunt for excuses (i.e. your car needs a tune up, clutch is slipping when you have a new clutch in it, carpet got stuck underneath gas pedal, windows were open, had my 100lbs. girlfriend with me, etc...).
I agree, I hate excuses. I hate it when you run someone and win and then what do they say? Oh I had boost leak, if my car was running right youd be wasted! or "Its too cold for my tune" "Wait till I fix my car"
BOOOHOOOHOOOOFUCKINGHOO!
I.M.H.O. reliability is part of performance. If your car cant hold together then its not a well performing vehicle and you loose based on that, your performance suscks!

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

i think if your car is messed up dont race!you need to worry about fixing not racing it.

BUT, if i broke my leg and let it heal and half way through the healing session i decided i wanted to race to see how fast i am now. and i loose, i wouldnt be upset anyway, you know your hurt...and the loss wasn't much of a loss untill you have yourself back to good health!

if its not in tip top shape, dont run it..or dont complain!!

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

I think rule number one should be something like always congratulate the other person, win or lose. Its so much more fun to have a street race where both people are polite. Although sometimes you gotta be a jerk back, but a simple nice job to the loser makes a big difference. I always end my street races with the thumbs up.

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

I agree with the "Run what ya brung" idea as well. I don't street race because well frankly I don't have a fast car. Excuses are lame. When I did race people in my CRX on a nice spirited highway run I would gladly accept a loss. Like the one time I tried to keep up with the LS1 SS. I got up to about 110mph and he was doing about 140mph. I never really posted any of my stories because well, I usually lost. It never phased me. I accept it and respect the faster car and driver. Sometimes I would actually win against ricers but they would do the "ricer fly-by" when the race was clearly over and vtec finally kicked in. I never sweated that either. I never thought anything about the time the BMW sprinting in front of me on a highway put on his flashers when slowing down. Hell, I never expected a BMW owner to do that and I actually thought his car was messed up. He ended up taking off again. Anyway, I enjoy reading the AF member street racing stories and like to chime in sometimes.

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

1. Make sure you use caution and care before you race. You get busted, there's no more racing for you! Make sure you have open roads, and don't endanger those around you. And watch out for cops! Find designated areas where you know you won't get in trouble.

2. Run what ya brung- You bring it, you race it, you win, you lose, no excuses.

3. Congratulations are in accordance to racing. You win or lose, no matter what congratulate your opponent.

4. Assist your fellow members with tips and advice to help better their racing experience. What's the point of being in a group if nobody wants to help one another?

5. Maintain your vehicle and keep it in tip top condition. Don't take care of your car, what good is it going to do you if it can't run right?

Any others, just add em. But I think those 5 are suitable.

As for sigs and avatars, to those of you that want them, PM me and let me know what you may want. Just know that I will add detail if you request it. Want your car in their? Color, special signatures of what you thinks sets you apart, and above all, I'll come up with a unique way of setting your sig or avatar apart from the rest of the group. Just let me know.

I can agree with that too. I would never race my car with something that was broken and could possibly cause more damage in case of running it like that. When I ran my car when it was not in tip top shape the ECU was going bad so it would want to shut off sometimes at higher RPM's. By then, it was already too late for the ECU though.

And Civ, I will definately try to get you a pm about a possible sig or avatar.

I wholeheartedly agree with rule number 1. That should definitely be first on the list. Street race only in areas deemed appropriate for such danger. No racing in Kmart parking lots, etc...

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

I actually have a check list I go through before I race. Its a mental check list and yes, I do use it every time.
- Do I know this road, do I know the pavement is layed out clean, no pot-holes, no road scars or rough surface that could cause loss of traction.
I never race on unfamiliar roads for fear of such conditions.
- Does the guys car look like its in any shape to run. If I spot a wobbly wheel, bald tire, smoke from the tail pipe ect.. I wont run em. Some people are too stupid to realize thier car aint cut out to go fast.
- Is the road clear? I never run in traffic, I can control my car but i cant account for others on the road and I wont endanger anyone.
- check for cops. Even though you cant alway spot them its best to give a quick glancein all dirrections.

Re: Men Of The Automotive Order - Official List

what about signs and signals? Like for example I know we all hate getting hazard by ricers but I do actually think its a good way to signal the end of a race... sometimes people don’t realize that hitting your brakes means race over lol.
