Arrow What would I need to Fuel inject and twin turbocharge a Chevy 350 (1970)

I want to get a 70 Monte Carlo with the 350 but I want to rebuild the enging and do the above mods. What do I need to do it? Brands would be best. Want to drag race with it. I also want to know what standard (of course) Transmition would be good for her. possibly an overdriven one?

what do you currently have?

i mean, this is a very open question.
if you seriously want to drag race and be competitive, it'll cost well over 10 grand

the engine will probably cost that much.

to the thread starter, you're aiming way too high. you've displayed a fair lack of knowlegde, and you want to convert a 70s 350 to an FI-F/I engine. you really need to know a LOT about the engines and driveline before you can embark on something like this. i'd seriously advice you to take at least a year to learn the intricacies of engines and drivetrains before even thinking about this again.

or, if you have the money, have someone else build it for you.

EDIT - you're 16. it'll be a while before you can afford this, or before you have the skill and experience for it. a 16-year-old with a twin-turbo cars is a death warrant with acne.

As noted above, all you need is money!!

IMO it would be cheaper to build a non - turbo big block. There are several aftermarket BB Chevys that produce huge power.
They will fit right in a '70 Monte because the BB was an option when new.

i still can't see this "project" taking off. the guy is 16 and thinks he can have/run/drive a twin turbo 350'd '70 Monte Carlo.

two words: death trap.

And how old are you?

How much do you know about the Lord_Hate?

For all you know he's been racing Karts since he was 10, and is now doing well in Formula ford/pacific, or a similar single seat racing class.

if that were the case, he'd most likely have a little more knowledge than he's displayed. as you know, we can only help we can't give people a total top-to-bottom list of modifications to do to acheive their goal.

Re: What would I need to Fuel inject and twin turbocharge a Chevy 350 (1970)

10K on a SBC? that would be a really nice engine, no doubt, but is definitely on the upper scale of things.

SBC's are very tough blocks, and you don't need much cash to upgrade them. But of course, its a question of the goal. Twin turbo doesn't tell us anything. Whats your actual HP goal. 400hp or 2000hp? That will drastically change the realistic cost of this adventure.

EFI or carb? Drag? street/strip? etc etc etc. Many factors involved.

IIRC, those rear mounted turbo's actually do a pretty good job. A lot of people laughed when they first came out, but shut up after they were proved wrong. i think the kit is ~3000.

i was one of the laughers...i still dont see how they can compete with a 'real' turbo setup, but i suppose that ultimate power isnt the goal in that case

Re: What would I need to Fuel inject and twin turbocharge a Chevy 350 (1970)

I also have trouble believing it would perform comparably....but I have seen some dyno sheets that seemed to suggest they do infact work pretty well. But without seeing a back to back comparison of the two options, I will stay a little skeptical.

From my own playing with turbo's, I have discovered the hard way how crucial such differences as log manifolds vs intelligently merging primaries, etc, so I find it hard to believe there is so little loss with such a painful distance between the turbo(s) and the engine

doesn't the exhaust have to go thru the cat first before it can go to the to the turbo?
seems that it would cause huge drop in flow
