code P0751 and no OD

hi all, i'm a new member. i have a 1998 olsmobile silhouette (same thing as a venture right) and i have a code P0751 that set the SES light. i went to autozone and they told me something was wrong with a solenoid in the transmission. would this account for having no overdrive? everything was fine until a tranny fluid/filter change.

thanks for any help. i hope this isnt anything major

Re: code P0751 and no OD

ok i found this information on the web
http://www.gm.com/company/gmtunersou...ansmission.pdf

if you scroll down to page 13 it shows the shift algorithm for the 4T65e.

code P0751 according to autozone is
Quote:
The PCM has determined that the voltage signal from shift solenoid "A" indicates inadequate performance or a "stuck off" condition.
could replacing this solenoid A fix my problem? according to that website it only comes on in first gear and overdrive. i don't know what that means exactly but could the solenoid come on in first and stay shutoff after that? i have no problems from first to third gear. thanks for any help.

Most transmission shops will do a free scan of your transmission performance using a scanner designed for that purpose. The scanners Autozone uses are just a general scanner and aren't very helpful for the inner workings. My advice would be to take it to a shop and have them check it for free. Then go from there.
