Ignition Switch Will Not Turn...... Steering Wheel Locked
This is my problem... I have a 96 LT and last night my wife drove it with no problem and got home and parked it. This morning at 4 am as I was getting set to leave for work I put the key in and nothing happened. Then I noticed the steering wheel was locked also. This happened once before and I popped the hood and played with the battery cables which seemed to work. Tried that this morning but nothing happened. Is this a common problem? What causes it and how else can you get it to work?

Quote:
If not turn the steering wheel right and left to take the bind off and try turning the switch the same time you are moving the wheel each way.

Re: Ignition Switch Will Not Turn...... Steering Wheel Locked
It doesn't turn at all. I finally got it to turn, start, by moving the switch back and forth which allows it to start but when I turn it back off it locks again. Can turn the switch off but not back to lock and it will start. Will this kill my battery overnight if I leave the switch turned to the first position? Will have to leave the key in it but not turn the switch all the way back to the off position to get it to work. Thanks alot.
