Need Help on 01 Galant Headlight Replacement

My GF has lost the manual! (Don't ask.)
For starters I was not able to get the receptacle
detached from the lamp! Looks like the prongs should
simply slide in, or is there something else preventing removal,
other than maybe corrosion?
After answering the above, could someone please guide
me through the removal/replacement process? I assume
everything is removed from under the hood.
Several years ago I replaced the other lamp and seem
to recall it was tricky. Can someone please guide me through
the removal/replacement process?

This is the second try for posting this and I joined just to pass this on because it was a bear for me to do myself and I saw your question before I tried it - The owners manual was no help. It's under the hood. black plastic plug with wires coming out of it behind the headlight area. Push in on sides (hopefully your fingers aren't too big) - the side nearest the outside of the car (not motor side) has a tab to depress which allows you to pull back and off to remove the plug with wires. Next, pull back on the light grey plastic ring (has arrows and hanging tabs) to remove that part. Then, there is a wire holding in the bulb. Try pushing in the side of the wire that doesn't have the screw. I think that makes that side of the wire pop up so you can pull it to the side and take out the old bulb. To put in the new, dont touch the bulb part. It's a three-prong deal and the middle prong goes on top (if memory serves me right). then you put back the wire holding it in and I had to redo this wire part a couple of times because the bulb wiggled until I had it placed right (tight enough?). Then put back on the grey ring, then the black plastic plug with the wires hooked on.
