Volfs are decent, I have a set myself. For a "cheaper" subwoofer they can hold their own. I was going to run 4 of them in my hatchback but I got a chance to hookup two of them and HOLY CRAP! I didnt even need to turn up the amplifier gains and they pounded like a mother! The ALUM cones makes it real easy to tell "distortion" - and they look damn cool!

Ive got a pair of the 10" subs - same series, just a 10" instead of 12"...

Dual 4ohm voice coils
400 rms / 800 peak
Sensitivity: 88.62dB

List for $114.95

They sell for $80 shipped EACH up on ebay, but tell you what. I have a pair that I used for seriously only about an hour. They are in PERFECT condition. Got everything right down to the original boxes and the horribly miss-spelled owners manual (when you get them open it up and read it and pay attention... kinda funny!) But I can sell you both subwoofers for $130 shipped (remember they have only been used for seriously an hour! - blew my 1600 watt amp and well dont need them anymore because im not putting in any audio in this car) I can also sell you the amp, I just have to send it in and they will send me a new one. So its a BRAND NEW amp, 1600 watt PowerAcoustik OV21600 - list price on it is $380, ill sell it for half that - $190 (remember its going to be BRAND FRIGGEN NEW!) So both for only $320 SHIPPED!!!!!!

If you want the subs new, I can sell you a NEW pair for the ebay price of $160 shipped, and still offer you the amp new for $190!

If going to get subs, do it right. I have had a couple differant kinds till I have what I got now. I wish that I just did it right the first time, it would have saved me time and money. From the people I talk to, none of them have had very good luck with Volfenhag. If you want something that just is loud and powerful, look at Adire Audio Brahma Subs. Put one is a big ported box and it will run circles around Volfs. If you are looking for something a little more less powerful, but will get the job done, look a a pair of Adire Aduio Shivas, JL W3's, or Infinity Perfect. And as for an amp, I would have to suggest a JBL amp. Either the 600.1 for a lighter load, or the 1200.1 for more power. Hope some of this helps, and remember, it is all just MY opinion!

thanks sparq, i might have to take you up on that offer, but ill have to get a little more money first, but i know where to find you.

something i was wondering about. what determines how much "boom" or how loud a sub will be? how critical is the freq range or spl sensativity. if you take two different subs with equal power ranges, will the one with a higher spl and broader freq. range always be louder?

i have a pair of polk gnx12's and on paper they seem great(except for power range). they go down to 18hz(deep bass im assuming), low as any other ive seen. and they have a spl of 93, which is high compared to the majority in the high 80's. im assuming they cant be to great since theyre not really expensive and i never hear anyone talking about polk. so basically, if i want a very deep and loud sub, what key specs do i look for besides wattage?

Box type and size will make big differance. Punchy "Quick" hitting bass from a sealed box (SQ), Loud Deep Bass from Ported, and just flat out Loud in Bandpass (but quality not really good at all).

oh yea, if forgot about that. but ignoring that, say their setups are identical, what specific sub specs determine which would be louder or perform better?

I am not sure what to look for. Sure, the size of the magnet and power handeling helps to make it loud, but I would also look at the X-Maxx of the sub (How much it actually "pushes" the cone of the woofer outward). The more X-maxx, the farther it pushes out, the more bass you get. Also, a simple thing is the simple cone area. That is just an easy concept to understand, you have 2 10's and 2 12's, there is more cone area with the 12's so you get more bass. Also something to consider is the type of amp, to run the Shivas I have on some Pyramid dung amp, it will not sound too good, but then put it on a nice amp like a JBL like I have, and it will sound much better. A lot of the lower name brand stuff like Jensen, Pyramid, Legacy, even Sony, over rate much of their amps. I had a Jensen that said that it put out 200x2 RMS, and I know that there is no way in hell it was giving my 200! Maybe 100, if I was lucky. Like I said before man, I would just got out and get good stuff now, and save money and time! I know thats what I did, I settled for less, not once, but twice with my system, and I wish that I would have gotten what I have now in the first place! Look into the Adire Audio stuff, Like I said, get 1 Brahma (12 or 15) and put it in a nice ported box with a nice class D amp (JBL 1200.1 to name one) and it will Slamm with a good amount of SQ! It would slam them Volf's into next year! IMO! Hope this helps!

Oh, check out Adire Audio web page at www.adireaudio.com

hey sparq!!!

ill probably be wanted those subs from you, but i gotta question since you have experience with poweracoustik. some guy on ebay is selling a couple of new 4apc960 amps. is that amp any good?? and would i be able to bridge the amp and run the 2chan's at 2ohms?(since the volfs are 4ohm dvc's, i would parallel the coils).

thanks.
