Re: map bypass missing link
Its a one way valve, allows only a vacuum, positive pressure will close the valve. However now that I think about it, unless the valve leaks (actually hoping it does) when your engine pulls max vacuum and then goes positive it will hold the pressure at the maximum vac. Which granted, wont throw a check engine light, like you want, but wont let it read perfectly eaither. Basically all the missing link is doing as well.

Re: map bypass missing link
The '92 and up ones (style A), goes between the throttle body and the map sensor. Where I believe the other style (style B) goes between 2 hoses, 1 of which is attached to the map sensor. Honestly I'm not all that familiar with the 4th gens enough to know how their map sensors are, other than mounted on the firewall.

Re: map bypass missing link
They are mounted on the firewall and just fed with a rubber tube, no biggie and very easy to put something inline. while the 5th gen civics have the map mounted to the TB requiring you to bolt the aluminum ones in between.

Re: map bypass missing link
Why don't you chip your ecu so you don't have to put the check valve on it - the stock map sensor will read up to 11psi of boost (i think it's 11) and with a stock ecu chipped you don't have to add anything except injectors. Why bother faking your ecu into reading something that isn't true. I'd prefer my ecu know how much boost there is so it can help me tune and adjust my fuel maps and timing maps accordingly.

Re: map bypass missing link
Here is an idea, since your stock map is good for 11 psi, why not forget about a check valve, or missing link all together?
edit, 4g4d is on the ball. |

Re: map bypass missing link

Re: map bypass missing link
You still don't need a missing link, as your stock MAP is still good for 11 psi.
