Megadeth vs. Metallica

Megadeth and Metallica have been trying to out do eachother for years. Dave Mustaine was an Ex-Metallica guitarist, and made Megadeth to show that he doesn't need metallica. Metallica the more popular of the two, cut thier hair, and sold out, touring with bands like Linkin Park, Limp Bizcuit. Meanwhile, Megadeth's still going strong. Megadeth still sounds great, and has the Gigantour going, while Metallica is busy filming their next documentary about whiney disagreements, and how the band is falling apart.

clearly, metallica has died. Black Album was the line. they've crossed it, and are no more. Megadeth is still metal!! Still... i voted metallica because the hits they've had, i love much more. Taking Megadeth's album "Rust In Peace" and comparing it to say, "Ride the Lightning", I'd choose Metallica in a heartbeat. "And Justice for All" was another reason. I won't compare "Kill 'em All" because Mustaine WAS that album. That's Metallica's best.

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

Vin, I voted Metallica for the same reason you did. But Metallica is gone forever. The Black Album was the last with good music period. I mean every song was great. And Jason Neusted leaving/fired was bad for them. Good for him though. He can still say he was part of one of the best heavy metal bands ever. But he doesn't have to stay with them through their downfall.

I've never been a fan of Megadeath really. But I would have voted for them if they would have had just one song I loved.

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

I voted for Metallica, however Megadeth is very close. There's just something about pretty much every Metallica song (especially Black and before) that you almost instantly remember it whereas Megadeth has some songs that are better than others.

justin timberlake > all

you can't compare slayer to metallica, and vice versa, even pre 1989 is completely different

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

Gotta go with Megadeth on this one.

Metallica is great but Megadeth just seems a lot more pure to me. IMO Metallica can't compete with albums like Rust In Peace and Countdown to Extinction.

Seen them both in concert too. While Metallica had all the great effects and what not Megadeth had better energy while playing.

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

I'll give you that, i'd rather see Megadeth in concert. Today, atleast.

Actually i have high hopes for the new metallica album, they are going back to playing in E like they did in the old stuff. Plus rick rubin is producing it.

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

I'd definately go with 'deth on this one as they're still producing stuff thats metal albeit not as fast as stuff on say Rust in Peace, So Far So Good So What. Both groups have sold out at one point in time like with the Risk album or St. Anger, the difference seems to be that Megadeth have returned more to the metal sound. I've heard the new albums of both groups, St. Anger & The System has failed, the only difference is I still have the new Megadeth simply because theres actual guitar solos in the stuff <And i'm a huge fan of Dave Mustaine>, in my mind that was a fatal mistake on behalf of metallica for cutting that out of their new album, also it seems the drumming in St. Anger gets boring and repetitive after the first five minutes. As for old material, i'd still go with Megadeth since it was basically Peace Sells that got me into 80's metal.

Re: Megadeth vs. Metallica

I'm not gonna officially vote since i haven't listened to megadeath at all, but i'm sure they'd be my pick as metallica has really disappointed me overall. I got into them after listening to load and reload (not bad albums), then their old stuff (really kicked ass) and the new stuff is, well, .
