brake fluid reservoir relocation help
Does someone know where I can get a How-To guide to relocate the brake fluid reservoir?
or can someone tell me where i will be able to find some pictures or even a parts list? I was reading that you can take some parts of an eclipse. if so what type of eclipse and what parts do I need from it?

well, I saw that Phattlard (3si) relocated his because of his new supercharger set up. and I asked him to give me some input on it and havent received a response.
and I just want to know, because the supercharger kits on boosthead.com require it. it doesnt mean that i am going that route with my car. but I just want to know for future references. and in case someone else asks i can have an answer. or if someone else is trying to do it the can find this thread by searching. and since i didnt find anything on it I just decided to ask

and I though if i cound relocate it I could actually use an eclipse intake manifold with out hitting the reservoir on my sinlge set up that is being put together (in my head
) as we speak.

The 3g eclipse has the brake booster in a completely different spot and the brake fluid resevoir is still attached to it. It wont work.

PM jason_bet. he did a RHD conversion, and with the brake pedal on the other side of the car, the brake booster was in the stock location, but the two were joined by a long rod that connected the pedal to the booster. quite simple, actually.
search for his 'RHD conversion' thread. he had a lot of pics in there. so basically, you could relocate the booster to the passenger side of the engine compartment. you would just have to bend some new brake lines and fabricate a metal rod to connect the pedal and booster across underneath the dash. however, i'm sure there are other, easier ways to relocate it. practically speaking, its a good idea to research what would be involved for a brake booster relocation. however, until you actually need to do it (IF you need to do it at all), don't get hung up on the nitty gritty details about where exactly and how you're gonna do it.

Just offering my personal thoughts here, not telling you what to do either way. I don't quite understand why one would even consider moving the brake fluid reservoir for any mod. I don't feel it is worth it. Who knows how many weeks were spent designing the brake system in explicit detail to ensure proper fluid flow and having the reservoir above all the other brake parts. Altering the braking system from how it was designed is where I draw the line aside from adding stuff that is direct bolt on like better calipers and replacing rubber lines with SS lines because these are improvements that enhance braking power and wouldn't disturb the pyshics involved with the design of the lines, where they are laid out, and why they are where they are etc...
So if I was looking into a supercharger setup that would force me to move the brake reservoir or any part of the braking system then I'd look elsewhere unless you have a fabricator and brake specialist doing the relocation work for you. It does not seem worth altering the brakes to brake against more power you are adding and then to risk whether or not the new brake setup will hold up and not deminish braking power in the process. Maybe I'm overreacting, but if so its for your own safety. Supercharger's n all that stuff are great, but instead of thinking how to change the factory designed stuff.... why not focus on changing how the supercharger setup is designed and/or flows and then put it on. As far as I'm concerned the majority of the time any MOD should conform to and bend for the CAR and not the other way around.... kinda like Office equipment and furniture should conform to human shape and not the human have to deal with stuff that causes repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel from bad posture due to bad keyboard setup and seating. Get me? |

Ive got a 1g DSM and the brake booster and fluid resevoir are in a similar place to where the 3s's are located as well.

I do get what youre saying. BUT i think that any thing can be modified to accommodate another thing.
and this kit below (pics 1 and 3) come with a brake fluid reservoir relocation kit. and I think that is something is modified and done right i dont see why it should make you worry about it not working right or having problems with it. and like i said before I want to see if the 3g eclipse intake manifold fits by relocating this becaue i remember that someone tried to install the intake and said that it didnt fit because it hit the reservoir. ![]() ![]()

It was IPO who attempted it and if I remember right not only did it hit the resevoir it hit the brake booster.
