brake fluid reservoir relocation help

Does someone know where I can get a How-To guide to relocate the brake fluid reservoir?

or can someone tell me where i will be able to find some pictures or even a parts list?

I was reading that you can take some parts of an eclipse. if so what type of eclipse and what parts do I need from it?

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

First question is why would you want to relocate it?

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

well, I saw that Phattlard (3si) relocated his because of his new supercharger set up. and I asked him to give me some input on it and havent received a response.

and I just want to know, because the supercharger kits on boosthead.com require it. it doesnt mean that i am going that route with my car. but I just want to know for future references.

and in case someone else asks i can have an answer.
or if someone else is trying to do it the can find this thread by searching.
and since i didnt find anything on it I just decided to ask

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

The 3g eclipse has the brake booster in a completely different spot and the brake fluid resevoir is still attached to it. It wont work.

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

PM jason_bet. he did a RHD conversion, and with the brake pedal on the other side of the car, the brake booster was in the stock location, but the two were joined by a long rod that connected the pedal to the booster. quite simple, actually.

search for his 'RHD conversion' thread. he had a lot of pics in there.

so basically, you could relocate the booster to the passenger side of the engine compartment. you would just have to bend some new brake lines and fabricate a metal rod to connect the pedal and booster across underneath the dash. however, i'm sure there are other, easier ways to relocate it.

practically speaking, its a good idea to research what would be involved for a brake booster relocation. however, until you actually need to do it (IF you need to do it at all), don't get hung up on the nitty gritty details about where exactly and how you're gonna do it.

what i was reading, it was about a 1g eclipse. I was not totally sure what they were saying (in 3si) but they were referring to a 1g eclipse. (lost the actual thread and now I cant find it) so that is why I decided to ask here.

SO CAN SOMEONE HELP ME.

Exclamation Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

Just offering my personal thoughts here, not telling you what to do either way. I don't quite understand why one would even consider moving the brake fluid reservoir for any mod. I don't feel it is worth it. Who knows how many weeks were spent designing the brake system in explicit detail to ensure proper fluid flow and having the reservoir above all the other brake parts. Altering the braking system from how it was designed is where I draw the line aside from adding stuff that is direct bolt on like better calipers and replacing rubber lines with SS lines because these are improvements that enhance braking power and wouldn't disturb the pyshics involved with the design of the lines, where they are laid out, and why they are where they are etc...

So if I was looking into a supercharger setup that would force me to move the brake reservoir or any part of the braking system then I'd look elsewhere unless you have a fabricator and brake specialist doing the relocation work for you. It does not seem worth altering the brakes to brake against more power you are adding and then to risk whether or not the new brake setup will hold up and not deminish braking power in the process. Maybe I'm overreacting, but if so its for your own safety.

Supercharger's n all that stuff are great, but instead of thinking how to change the factory designed stuff.... why not focus on changing how the supercharger setup is designed and/or flows and then put it on. As far as I'm concerned the majority of the time any MOD should conform to and bend for the CAR and not the other way around.... kinda like Office equipment and furniture should conform to human shape and not the human have to deal with stuff that causes repetitive stress injuries like carpal tunnel from bad posture due to bad keyboard setup and seating. Get me?

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

Ive got a 1g DSM and the brake booster and fluid resevoir are in a similar place to where the 3s's are located as well.

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

I do get what youre saying. BUT i think that any thing can be modified to accommodate another thing.

and this kit below (pics 1 and 3) come with a brake fluid reservoir relocation kit.
and I think that is something is modified and done right i dont see why it should make you worry about it not working right or having problems with it.

and like i said before I want to see if the 3g eclipse intake manifold fits by
relocating this becaue i remember that someone tried to install the intake
and said that it didnt fit because it hit the reservoir.

Re: brake fluid reservoir relocation help

this is an e-mail that i got from boosthead.com

Quote:
Our M62 and M90 Eaton supercharger kits are offered at only $3795. These kits fit both auto and 5-speed cars. The M62 version clears the stock hood, but is suggested for auto trans cars and is limited to 5-6 psi. The M90 version requires a hood scoop (NOT INCLUDED). You must specify when ordering whether you want the M62 or the M90, and have the SOHC or DOHC model. No engine mods are needed and a safe 5-6 psi pulley is standard. With an upgraded exhaust the hp increases approximately 100 flywheel hp* on the DOHC and 80 flywheel hp* on the SOHC. I now fully race port the Eaton superchargers. The race porting results in additional free hp and lower discharge temperatures. The Eaton units have a 1-year unlimited mileage warranty, and the life expectancy for the Eaton is 150,000 miles. The kit comes with a fully race-ported Eaton 90 CID supercharger, custom intake manifold, supercharger pulley, idler pulley, tensioner brackets, throttle body adapter (throttle body remains in stock location), brake fluid reservoir relocation kit, FMU fuel controller, and boost gauge. Allow for 10-12 hrs installation time. Regular hand tools are all that is required, and most of the installation is accomplished from above. May not clear some aftermarket strut tower braces. We do not include the hood scoop, however the 98-03 Mustang GT scoop is a perfect fit. It bolts on and looks like a factory option.
We also offer an installation kit for the M90 by itself. You need an ' 89-' 93 T-Bird SuperCoupe Eaton M90 supercharger. The manifold, throttle body adapter, drive pulleys and belt setup will cost you only $1995. You can find a used supercharger at a wrecking yard or on ebay and build the kit for very little. The Eaton superchargers are usually $200-$300 on ebay, and you will need a fuel controller ($100 or so), boost gauge ($50), and a 1st generation Eclipse master cylinder remote reservoir--at a wrecker for $20. So for around $2500 you can build your own kit.
this is what I was talking about.
does someone have a picture to see what they are talking about.
