Yamaha m1 inter color
Now that I finally figured out how to attach images, I thought I would let you guys see my latest model. I am fairly new to this site and have only completed 4 motorcylce kits previous to this one. However I was never that happy with the gloss I achieved on previous ones, that was where this great forum helped me out with some great advice. The model is not as good as a lot of the stuff on here which I must say is pretty incredible! Don't think I would have the time or patience (or talent!) to do the detailing that some of you guys do. Please feel free to make any comments regarding my work I would love to here how I can improve.
Big thanks to Hiroboy for his advice and also having a great online store that stocks everything hat I need. I am thinking of doing the AKAI barry sheene kit next as I have a lot of black paint left, so will prob post some more images when I start, prob some progress pics too. Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
I really like it...clean, a lots of detail...awesome work!!
Can you give me tips on how to make the blue effect on the exhaust and how to paint the red "Brembo" on the brake pad?! Thanks!

Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
thanks for your comments, very kind!
The brembo comes as a transfer in these kits, so I just placed it carefully in position and put a blob of microsolon on it, this melts it on as if painted. I have painted them in before, although a bit fiddly can be done, very fine tipped brush, if you go over edge you can retouch back in with some gold. The exhaust is pretty simple really, I used alclads chrome metaliser over gloss black, then airbrushed tamiya clear yellow and blue for heat stain. I believe tamiya do a weathering kit now that is applied with small sponge swabs, a bit like womens eye make up. Hope this helps Cheers Col |

Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
Hi,
to me the model looks great with the smooth finish, CF-decals and blue-coloured exhaust. I donīt see much things that might be improved. Maybe drilling out the holes in the brake disc(s) and a little heavier wash on the chain - but thatīs a matter of taste.

yea I think you are right, the chain could do with bringing out more detail, I may also invest in a micro drill for those discs, it will come in handy if I do some road bikes in the future.
Thanks Col |

Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
The tamiya weathering you said is the type D, it's really easy to use and the finish is perfect...I have used it for my last models and it's look great!!!

Very nice model you have built. The carbon work looks spot on,nice gloss on your paint finish as well. The model is very cleanly built and the pictures are nice too.I really like the Yamaha in this colour scheme and you have done it so well.Looking forward to seeing more of your builds.

Thanks for the praise Steve, coming from an accomplished modeller as yourself, they are much appreciated, my next build is the sheene akai Yamaha, which I am currently working on should be done in the next week or so, will prob post some pics, I shoot my bikes outdoors I find it gives much better lighting conditions that show off the shine very well too. Cheers Col

Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
Very nice build and great photos. The latter can be hard to accomplish but you master it! Micro drills is a good investment. Looking over your build the rear disc is one of the few spots that I think needs to improve. Perhaps some work to highlight the chain as mentioned above but besides that it is really great. Love the livery and the work you've done with the kit.

Re: Yamaha m1 inter color
Very nice job on the bike... looks sharp. I can see you have a bunch of broken images in your thread... maybe fix them?
