Buzzing noise coming from vehicle when going slow.

I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu w/3.1 liter V6. Has 152,000 miles on it. I notice a buzzing or grinding noise at low speeds when I drive the car in stop and go traffic. It usually occurs at speeds of 15 mph or lower. Shortly after I stop the noise goes away and once I get over 15 mph it goes away. Its not the brakes because I had them checked plus it makes the noise when my foot is of the brake at those speeds. All the fluid levels are good. At 135,000 miles I had a transmission put in the car. The levels are fine in it. Car drives great just started making this noise. Any help would be great.

Re: Buzzing noise coming from vehicle when going slow.

-Could be wheel bearing/hub assy.
Does the 'buzz' get higher in pitch with speed? When my hub assemblies went it started with a low buzz only audible at low speeds [little road noise]. Over time the noise got louder, turning into a 'roar' rather than a 'buzz.' The noise also may be more prominent when turning at speed. If ABS MIL turns on in the future, that will point you toward hub assy [water gets in the bearings fouling the contained ABS wheel speed sensor].
-Check CV boots.
Although these joints usually click when turning sharply, I've had an ill-lubricated CV joint buzz with a torn boot.

Or.. you could just turn the sterio up louder under 15mph..

When I accelerate over 15 mph the buzz goes away. Was thinking a wheel bearing but even after I have stopped the buzz continues for several seconds. I'll have to have the CV joint checked. Thanks

I know its coming from the front end (motor, transmission, axle) but not exactly sure the spot. Once I get over 15 mph it goes away or several seconds after I stop it will go away.

Disregard CV joint. CV joints are in the halfshafts.. the driveshafts tranny-wheel on each side.

Weird noise.
