Preval Spray Gun for Alclad?

Hi there!

This is my first post in this superb forum. Iīm modelling for several years now and I think its time to make better models. I have a few Tamiya 1/12 F1 cars on the pile, mainly older cars with lot of chrome/aluminium parts like the Ferrari 312T and the Tyrrell F1. Now this is my problem as I think the chrome sprues look a little bit toy like and I would like to paint them with alclad II paints. Unfortunately I have no airbrush and I donīt have a place in my little apartment for it.

Now I have found the preval spray gun (www.prevalspraygun.com) on the net and I just wonder if itīs possible to spray alclad paints with this thing. I have found out that the preval gun works with 4,4 bar air pressure and I know that alclad should be used with very low air pressure. So do you think it will also work with this high air pressure?

Thanks for reading!

Bye

Thomas

Re: Preval Spray Gun for Alclad?

I haven't tested this particular product, but it doesn't seem very appropriate for spraying Alclad.
The pressure will be excessive for the fluid Alclad which -most probably- will drip/remain inconsistent.
The atomization is equal to a spray can, which means a lot of (expensive) Alclad will be wasted. The paint feed tube will contribute to the wasting of paint, since it seems very long.

All in all, I would decide against it, but it is your money

Cheers,
Lusitano

I have some experience with these sprayers. It is a spray can with changeable paint!! The preval sprays a fine mist, but it's just like a can of spray paint.

By looking at their website, I'm guessing that it's battery powered...Hrm, kiltman, could you give more info on this product? I'm kinda interested in getting it for house hold touch-ups.
