just had the fuel pump replaced and gas tank.the new pump is really loud.is this normal, they didn't put the protective rubber cover around tank back on,would this cause the pump to be so loud and if not does anyone have any ideas on how to quiet it down.also does the pump have to blead when replaced.we can smell gas now and then.

Re: 95 safari fuel pump
It's doubtful that the cover would make any difference in sound isolation as the tank is held in position with steel straps that attach to the body. A more likely cause would be a "lesser quality" fuel pump was installed. The fuel pump primes the fuel system each time the key is turned to the RUN or START position so there is no need to bleed it. The fuel odor is not normal and should be checked out and repaired.
