Hello again:
I have a new problem. 96 Camry LE with the factory TDS. Recently (now that it is cold here in Chicago) when you use the keyless remote, you can lock the doors and arm the system, but when you go to unlock/disarm the system, you don't hear the locks activating, you only see the parking lights flash. I used the key in the driver's door to manually lock and unlock the doors. Key works fine, but I still sprayed some lube in the key cylinder just in case. Tried the master door switch -- it unlocks and locks all four doors perfectly. I even tried the passenger side switch and once again, all four door locks worked correctly. Is there something I am missing? I read that normally, you will have either the driver's door key cylinder switch go bad (or get dirty) or the master switch dies. But, both seem fine. I even tried using the valet mode. but it still doesn't want to unlock the doors. **Note: When the system is armed and I use the key to manually unlock the driver's door, the key unlocks the door, but the alarm will sound. Does that mean the cylinder switch is bad or still dirty? Can I remove the door panel and clean that switch? Do I have to get one from a parts car? Please let me know when you guys get a chance amd once again, thanks for your assitance. Ted, Chicago |

Re: 1996 Camry Factory Alarm Won't Unlock Doors
Anyone? I would appreciate someone's experience on this before I remove the door panel and try to clean the door lock cylinder switch.
I found a similar thread that noted the door lock relay was replaced, but that owner's problems were different from mine. Hope to hear from someone soon. Thanks!! Ted, Chicago |

Re: 1996 Camry Factory Alarm Won't Unlock Doors
If the remote is making the lights flash but the doors arent responding, it could be a loose wire in the door or off of the receiver under the driver's seat. You are getting the signal to arm/disarm the system, but it is not sending the signal to the power door lock switch.
