Loss Of Power
FEBRUARY 18,2006
I have A prob. I installed a new battery post backwards after my truck went down when there was a loss of power while i was on the freeway. I jumped it and started and a few seconds turned off. ... Now it runs for 10-15minutes and gets hot and turns off. loos of power. when it cools down it starts up. 1992 JEEP XJ 4.0 4X4 102,000 MILES (SOMEONE TOLD ME CHECK THE O2 CENSOR) -new alternator -new battery ** *****HELP******** *HELP*******HELP**********HELP ***

I don't think the battery backwards is related or caused it...but....
I would change the crank position sensor. Any codes? O2 sensor, maybe, but I wouldn't rush there. Test it, it should put out about 0.5 volts; its range is .1 to .9 volts. Could it be a plugged catalytic converter? |

Well, my jeep starts and after it gets hot (some times i can notice a drastic high temp. from the engine whe i open it) it wont start. It cranks but nothing. I really need help. I just got into an accident with my new endeavor and have nothing now. HELP!!!1

Perhaps the thermostat is stuck in the closed position, or low on coolant? Those may also account for the power loss (during the over heating).

I dont think so.. Cause it won't start it should not have any problem with starting.

Time to use your voltmeter on the starter circuit. I have written posts before about voltage testing the starter circuit.
12.6 volts,,,,voltage drops...blah..blah..blah. |
