Question Wipers Not Working

The wipers on the 2k elantra just stopped working. I hear the motor whirring, but the arms are dead. I can move them back and forth manually, which i know is not a good thing.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks!

It could be the nuts that hold the wiper arms to the linkage have loosened up, or the nuts that hold the linkage to the motor, or it could be a broken linkage itself. If the nuts on the arms are tight, only way to tell is to take the wiper cowl off, and take a look.

Re: Wipers Not Working

Hyundai had a recall on the motors for the wipers a couple of years ago. I don't know if your model would be included (it's sounds like it's newer), but I got a letter from Hyundai in the mail stating that the motor sensors were contaminated, and it could cause the wiper motor to fail. The letter said that the local dealership would replace the motor at no charge if it applies to our vehicle. My motor died before I got the letter, so I already paid for it
