2000 Bonneville coil spark short?
The number 2/5 coil/brick has a spark from the plug wire to the screw that bolts the coil brick to the base. It's running rough and nissing at idle. Occasional voltage drop when missing. Replaced the coil and sparking condition still exists. Any thoughts or solutions? Thank you in advance for any advice.

Sounds like it's time for new spark plug wires.

Re: 2000 Bonneville coil spark short?
New wires should improve or eliminate this condition. However, make sure that there is dielectric grease inside the boot on the new wire. This should keep the spark inside the boot. Most of the newer wires come with grease in them but some do not. Just buy a tube of grease and make sure to coat the inside of the boot with the grease.

GTP Dad, I didn't grease the boots. Looks like I need to go back and do that. Thank you for your help and suggestion. Wish I still had my GTP, great car!

Re: 2000 Bonneville coil spark short?
Glad to hear it's running better. Make sure non of the wires are touching (or really close) to the O2 sensor.

Re: 2000 Bonneville coil spark short?
Is this the O2 sensor? Or area that plug wires should not be near.

The picture isn't showing. Looks like you may have tried to link it from your hard drive. The O2 sensor is on the rear exhaust manifold. Kind of looks like a spark plug.
