Extreme vibration when turning
I'm completely fed up with this car, but I enjoy not having a car payment, so I'm trying to hold off as long as I can. Anyway, I recently replaced a left front wheeling bearing, all 4 rotors & pads, and a left front inner tie rod. Finally my dash is completely free of dummy lights, as before the traction control & ABS were shutting off due to either the tie road or wheel bearing.
Unfortunately, one problem still remains - an EXTREME vibration when turning left. You can hear the power steering pump strain, and it's just an awful vibration through the brake pedal, through the wheel and through the entire car. Any clues? I really don't want to fork over another $200 to have another wheel bearing replaced, but I also enjoy my car turning. |

Re: Extreme vibration when turning
It would help to post your mileage to include year, model Alero and engine size.

Re: Extreme vibration when turning
I've been experiencing this also...been told the rack-and-pinion steering has a leek and I end up having to add steering fluid more often than not.

Re: Extreme vibration when turning
hmmm, the rack and pinnion would more likely be a sort of "clunk clunk" while turning the wheel. but i would suggest taking a look at the struts and strut mounts. u replaced the rotors and pads which would be my first suggestion. the vibration wouldn't really be from the bearing unless that bearing was completly fried. u may have to replace the other tie rod. wish i could be of more help but i haven't REALLY had this problem yet, try pushing the top of both front wheels with ur foot and see if theres alot of movement on the wheels themselves.
another thing, did u get an alignment done when u replaced the tie rod? good luck |

Re: Extreme vibration when turning
Not sure if maybe I'm thinking of a different vibration...mine is more like a deep humming vibration and gets louder when I'd turn my wheel. My car seems to have a steering fluid leak so when I add more fluid (which I just did last night), the sound goes away and I can turn my steering wheel without hearing that noise down in the wheel area.
