200 Windstar Rust

My 2000 Windstar is rusting from the inside out behind the 2 rear slider doors and along the driver side rocker panel. The warranty is expired and the dealership won't even consider looking at it.

A local body shop stated that Ford used a spray foam inside the body panels to help reduce noise. This trapped moisture which is why the rust from the inside out (paint bubbling, etc.)

Anybody have any luck in working with Ford factory reps on this? It appears this is a design flaw and should be covered out side the warranty.

I've checked other thread posts, but no real help from what is already posted.

Re: 200 Windstar Rust

A 7yr old van? You are pretty much out of luck being that far away from the 3/36 warranty. It is a shame because that type of severe corrosion shouldn't happen on a 2000. I had bubbled paint under both sliders and rear hatch when my van was just under 3yrs old, but had around 37000mi on it (I just bought it used a few months earlier). The best I could get my dealership to do was cover half the repair cost. Cost to me was $250 for the body work. 3yrs later & it is still holding up well for a Buffalo NY vehicle. Ford wont do anything for you. A dealership might.
