I don't want to actcidently set them off, ... does anyone know how I can temperary deactivate them while I fix front?... thanks

Just disconnect the battery while you're doing the repairs, especially if you're going to do any welding. Since the bags didn't deploy and long as the srs light doesn't stay on you should be ok. gl

Almost forgot, If you've got a Pull a Part or U pull it salvage yard in your area you should be able to get everything you need for under $200 bucks. I fixed a 2000 model a couple months ago and had to do everything yours needs plus the airbags, dash and w/s. All parts were under $350.
