Smoking Problem

91 CRX Base Model , My car is smoking and I was trying to figure out why it is. I checked my spark plugs today and when i got to the third one the plug wire dripped with oil when I took it out. Can someone tell me if I change the o- ring seals on the valve cover would that keep the oil from going into the hole. Vice Versa would it keep my car from smoking? Someone please help........

Re: Smoking Problem

Yeah, definitely a good place to start. Those spark plug o-rings will keep oil out of the plug holes. Are you leaking oil out of the valve cover too? Might be a good time to replace the valve cover gasket also.

Re: Smoking Problem

Not from smoking out of the exhaust, no. But itll keep the heat of your engine from burning the oil on top of it lol.

It'll keep oil out of the spark plug holes giving you better ignition. Plus by changing the valve cover gasket you won't get any oil on the exhaust /intake manifold, cam gears, dizzy etc.
If you wanna figure out where your leaking oil internally run a compression test. It'll tell you if you have bad rings, and the overall health of the motor. Make sure you first test it dry, then wet with a teaspoon of oil.
