97 Z71 charging problem

changed altenator on 97 Z 71. The old one wasn't charging. Installed the new one and it still won't charge. Vehicle has a new battery. Any ideas?

Was the old one bench tested to verify that it was not charging? Has the new one been bench tested (I have seen reman'd unit fail out of the box)?

Check the cable that goes from the alt to the battery.

What is the voltage at the rear of the alt with the engine running?
