Re: Iac?

Advance auto parts lists it at $67.77, which just doesn't seem right for such a small item.

Re: Iac?

You should jsut be able to take the mounting screws for the IAC and pull it out. No need to take anything else T/B or intake wise apart, barring maybe a vacuum hose or 2.

Re: Iac?

If you do need to remove the TB, there are just 4 mounting screws holding it to the manifold. But there are 2 coolant hoses also, and the throttle cables.

Re: Iac?

Remove 2 screws, remove IAC. Get some Valvoline Syn Power, T/B & carb cleaner and spray down the IAC and scrub with an acid brush. Then spray it up in the bore where the IAC sat, scrub with the acid brush and spray it again. Reinstall the IAC. The most common failure with the IAC is that it gets carboned up and sticks in the bore.

Re: Iac?

goddamnit. the IAC was so hard to get off. in the end i ended up just taking off the TB. i friggin hate the LT1 already. everything is all over the damn place and #$@#$%% : GOD i hte that thing. i cuz myself all over the place just to get out two measly screws. GRRRR.

and i found out that its broken..not just gummed up.. so... now i gotta wait ~ a week (damn hawaii shipping) to get the part... and im stuck with a auto LT1 for now

Re: Iac?

lol getting the screws off once you can access it is really simple..its not even that tight.. but getting TO it is impossible. the thermo housing is over to the right and on the left is the alternator. the alternator bracket pretty much covers the only gap you have to access the darned thing.. >_< and then, after you somehow squeeze your hand in, the smart boys in GM figured 'lets put it where a normal 1/4'' drive ratchet wont fit'

lol >_< its way easier to take off the TB and then angle it a little then remove.. =)
