Weird door lock issue

I have a 1999 Suburban LT and the door locks are inoperable from the front doors and the rear door. BUT....my keychain remote WILL unlock and lock the doors. What do you guys think the problem may be? Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Weird door lock issue

if its cold outside, thats a possibilty.....the 90's suburbans are known for their nightmarish electrical systems that were poorly designed. my guess is check the fuse box for a blown fuse......do they make a sound when you try to unlock/lock?

No they do not make any noise. It is like they are all "dead".

check your fuse box and use your car manual to check which one controls the lock mechanism........or........the main circuit could be damged or corroded, depends on the elements or abuse you put your truck through. i highly doubt all the door locks dont work, thats why i figure its a bad connection or blown fuse. try it and tell me if it works.

Re: Weird door lock issue

If it was a blown fuse the keyless entry remote would not work correct? Thanks for all your help.

depends how the trucks electrical sytem was designed. the remote keychain might have a separate circuit to the locks which wouldn't effect the locks that you press inside the truck.

Re: Weird door lock issue

I posted a question like this one last night. For months the door switches would not lock or unlock the doors, but the remote would. Now even the remote won't lock or unlock the doors. No blown fuses, but I can't identify a 'door lock' relay anywhere.

In other posts, a couple of people replaced all the door lock actuators, but I'm slow to believe that all five of them died at exactly the same time.

Re: Weird door lock issue

You have a circuit breaker (A 30amp) on drivers fender uder the hood and fuse 13 (20amp) both shoud be hot at all times, I had the CB go out on me. They are not real easy to check unless you have a meter but they are cheap.
