Clutch... DAMN IT!

ok, so i hop in my car after its been sitting at my parents house for about a month, and i fire it up. Starts like a champ, and everything is great (as usual ) anyway, i go to back out of the garage and the clutch peddle drops to the floor, so i pump it a few times, and clutch peddle regains "firmness" and i pull out of the garage, and pop the hood... Clutch Fluid level was good, so i figured it must have gotten a bubble or to in the line since it sat for so long. well, i get down the driveway, and take it out or reverse, and get out. (had to run inside to get my cell phone) and i come back, and go to put the car in first, Peddle is soft again! so i pumped it up, i was kinda concerned at this point. So after pumping the clutch a few times, it regains pressure, and i started down the road, i had trouble getting into second, had to "double clutch" *kick the peddle twice* to get into second, so i turned around and went back home. double clutching again to put the car in first, and i pulled back into the driveway. i immediately thought, Master cylinder, however, their is very little clutch fluid on the floor board, just bairly enough to feel just above the 4th peddle (foot rest) so is it possible that the lines just need to be bled again? or do i infact need a new master cylinder? car has 55XXX miles, stock clutch, stock lines, dot3 redline fluid, mods in sig. thanks guys!

Re: Clutch... DAMN IT!

Try bleading the lines, and if taht doesn't work, then try the master cylinder. Did you look at the slave cylinder at all?

Re: Clutch... DAMN IT!

Well it will leak fluid until it dry up, and the clutch will stay to the floor all the time, if your floor mat is wet, im 100% sure its was master cyclinder, I been there . and I bet most people here did too.

It's usually the slave cylinder that goes.

Quoted for the truth. Exact same thing happened to my buddies Del Sol, both of my dad's trucks, and my other buddies RX7. Actually, I bet you have two problems, the slave and the master. I dont think the master should be leaking any shit, but the lack of pressure except when you pump it is probably due to the slave cylinder.

Re: Clutch... DAMN IT!

Speaking from experience my car basicly did the same thing, and I replaced the slave cylinder and bled it and all was good.
